Love this steam cleaner! It's the first one I've ever bought, although I've borrowed a few before. This works much better than the borrowed ones. The suction works great, and if you make several "dry" passes it will pick up almost all of the water. My carpets were dry within an hour of steam cleaning. I vacuumed with my Bissell vacuum cleaner before steam cleaning, but the steam cleaner picked up lots of stuff the vacuum didn't. Assembly was easy, I only needed a Phillips head screw driver to assemble everything. Make sure to clean the machine after use! The bottom as well as the brushes needed to be cleaned after use. I had a slight problem with the lid of the reserve tank. You have to get it on perfectly straight or else it won't suck up any water. That's a user problem, not a problem with the machine :)
Also, kudos to Amazon free (5-9 day) shipping. I ordered on a Tuesday and selected the free shipping and received the steam cleaner on the following Saturday!

I have been through multiple steam cleaners. All of which I was excited to purchase and get home but when I used them I ended up disappointed. When my latest Bissel bit the dust I had already made up my mind about certain features I expected out of my next machine.
1. Clean water tank and return tank had to be separate
2. Ease of use
3. Light weight and easy to carry up and down stairs
4. Multiple brushes
5. Great suction
6. Reasonably priced
7. Water remains hot
I'm a "hard" shopper. I review,review,review, compare prices and shop for the best value for my dollar. I must say I made the right choice with my Hoover SteamVac F5914-900! I am delighted with it. When I recieved it I removed it from the box and assembled it without help from my husband. It took me maybe 15 minutes. It is easy to fill and empty because the clean water tank and the return tank are seperate. (This is a must) I am also one who thrives on "instant satisfaction" and when I could actually see the nasty water being sucked into the return tank...well I had to call my husband to witness and celebrate what an awesome job this little machine was doing. Filling and emptying the tanks are done with ease. And, I can tell a big difference in the cleaning results of the carpet. I even use it on my hardwood and tile sometimes. The round rotating brushes work so much better than the forward spinning ones that are on most machines.
At first I was a little disappointed because it was awkward carrying up and down stairs. Then I figured out that you can grab it right above the clean water tank and it makes carrying it a lot easier. Another thing that I discovered is that if you find that it does not have suction, check your tanks to make sure they are seated correctly. If they aren't you won't have suction.
This is absolutley the best bang for your buck and a great little machine. I shopped locally and on the internet for the exact model and couldn't find it for less than $189.00. I got the free shipping from Amazon too so I really got a great deal.
If you are looking for a great steam cleaner at a great price...the Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 is it!

We just purchased this last week after reading Mary Hunt's syndicated column about it. And thank goodness we did. We had a flood from a washing machine in the house last night, it has done WONDERS extracting water from our carpets and also the wooden floors. I highly recommend this product. Little did I know we would need it for this kind of purpose. And it has risen to the occasion.
