 Economical, EFFECTIVE, and worth the money! August 31, 2010

I had a Dirt Devil Featherlight Bagged Upright for 13 years, and was very sad when it "died." It just plain wore out. I couldn't complain, tho, after more than a decade of trusty service. I knew I wanted to buy another one; I knew I'd get quality at a great price. I couldn't find one locally, so I ordered it from Amazon.com, got it within a week, put it together (easy!), then attacked the cobwebs and icky stuff in my basement. Worked like a charm!
I've used it twice now with no problems. I especially like the headlight (my old one didn't have a headlight).
The only complaint I have is the fact that the cord hangers/clips are on the side of the machine (the old one had the cord hangers on the back). Since I wasn't used to this design, I managed to break off one of the hangers about 30 seconds after I started the vacuum. I hit it on the corner of my bed and it broke right off. My bad.
This is a great, economical vacuum that actually does what it promises. Gotta love a product that actually does what it's supposed to!

There is no good way to pick this up because it comes apart, either it is missing a screw or a design flaw.
Also the belts I purchased to go with this don't fit and I had to find try to figure out a size that would work
after the first belt broke. I did find something but it squealed loudly every time I used it for the first
2 months, now it seems to work fine. Basically it's a cheap vacuum but when this one breaks down I won't be
repurchasing this one.

So, I did some research on good functioning yet cost effective vacuum cleaners. Dirt Devil came up as highly rated so I shopped around for the best price. Purchased the vacuum from Amazon.com and, at the time, the price and free shipping was an outstanding value. When I received the appliance, I assembled it and to my surprise.... it was loud and switching from floor vacuuming to the hose nozzle is very awkward. So, to say the least, I'm not too impressed with this model or make.

This vacuum works wonderful. And what a great price. My last vacuum I bought was a bagless I bought at Wal Mart for triple the cost. This one uses a bag but it works super good, great suction. I use it on my area rugs which was the main reason I bought it but works just as well on my hardwood floors. I love this vacuum.

I bought it because it is cheap...it does work well, may be better for the price I paid but the noise is difficult to deal with. My previous vacuum cleaner was a Kenmore and my 1 and half year old daughter used to think it is a toy play with it while it's on...this one scared her to tears as soon as I turned it on, and now she doesn't even get close to anything that looks like a vacuum cleaner :)
