I own the smaller Hoover hardwood floor cleaner and bought this mainly for carpets. I found this to work so well, I use it for both my carpets and hardwood floors. The suction is amazing! Leaves hardwood floors without streaks and picks up the water better than any of the other cleaners I have used. Does a beautiful job on carpets.

My sister-in-law is highly allergic to dog hair. we have a golden retriever who sheds badly even with regular grooming. My sis-in-law recently came to visit and started wondering if after having her second baby her allergies had gone away. I used my carpet cleaner right before they arrived. They stayed for 10 days and about day 5 she had to start taking her allergy meds. So I took an hour to do the carpets again & we went to the playground for a couple hours while they dried. That combined with vaccuuming every few days & she didn't need her meds the rest of her visit! It's cheaper than hiring someone to do it and it's easy.

I had bad results trying to get my tile clean...even a little clean. I have white porous porcelain tile (never install white porcelain eliane tile from home depot) that won't come clean with mopping. I used to crawl around with a scrub brush and tilex, and still the dirt wouldn't lift completely. I bought the all terrain hoping for a deep cleaner that would eventually cost less than calling the professionals. I spent 10 minutes going back and forth on one square foot with inferior results compared to hand scrubbing. My toothbrush has harder bristles! Needless to say I returned this machine then ended up buying the Oreck Orbiter. The Orbiter doesn't suck up the water, but leaving oxiclean solution soaking for half an hour and then scrubbing with the Orbiter, my floors AND grout are absolutely new again! The Orbiter also cleans carpet, cement, buffs hardwood floors, and you can refinish marble and hardwood floors with different attachments. I recommend buying it used, however, because it's too pricey to purchase it new.

Got this due to having 4 dogs and 2 cats. Ends up being LOTS cheaper than renting over and over. It has saved the house. Go to Home Depot and get some ODORBAN, about $10 a gallon and use that only. Fill the solution container and about 8oz in the water container. Leaves a great smell and eliminates ALL pet odors. We tried everything else with no luck before finding this. The unit cleanes wonderfull, you will find out when you see how dirty the waste water is. Very easy to use and does good on furniture. Only complaint is that the waste container handle mounts broke too easily and only fix is to buy a new one so am just using it as is. GLAD we bought one. So are my relatives. lol
